There is no food to repair the damage of the nephrons or cells of the kidneys. Once damage sets in, it does not go back to normal especially when you have diabetes. When you have kidney damage, you should not limit your fluid intake. since your kidney does not function to its full, you should restrict your fluids or else it will just accumulate in your ankles, hands, sacral area and at times the lungs. Foods to avoid are those with high salt, high fat, high cholesterol, high potassium and phosphate coupled with your low carbohydrate or sugar since you are diabetic.
