Looking for any good info on gluten free dieting ...help. tired of feeling yucky !?

Answer:
Hi! I hope i can help. FIrst off, are you going gluten free to lose weight or because you think you may have Celiac Disease? I do NOT endorse going gluten free to lose weight if u do not medically need to. There was a ridicluous article in a magazine a few weeks ago spouting that idea and it's ludicrous.
That being said, if you do have Celiac Disease or think you have it, there are plenty of options and info!! First, to get diagnosed with CD, you need to be eating gluten regularly and see a doctor to run blood work.
They should test for:
Blood TestsA number of tests, sometimes collectively referred to as the Celiac Blood Panel, will aid the physician in diagnosis. The tests may include, but are not limited to: *
Serologic Tests 1. EMA (Immunoglobulin A anti-endomysium antibodies)
2. AGA (IgA anti-gliadin antibodies)
3. AGG (IgG anti-gliadin antibodies)
4. tTGA (IgA anti-tissue transglutaminase) * Tolerance or Measure of Digestion/Absorption Tests 1. Lactose tolerance test.
2. D-Xylose test. They may also do an endoscopy with biopsy whichi s the gold standard in diagnosing CD.Once you are diagnosed, there are a ton of things to eat! Tons of resources also! I'll just name a few for times sake!!First two great books:
Celiac Disease A Hidden Epidemic by Dr Peter Green
Living Wheat and Gluten Free for Dummies by Danna Korn (Danna is a huge CD advocate and has other books as well).Visit a few yahoo group pages:

If you do a web search for Celiac Disease, which is an inability to digest gluten, you should come up with several sites that list dietary restrictions. If you think you have Celiac, but have not been diagnosed, you should see your doctor for more information and treatment options.
